Ciao Italia ★★★★ $$$

Veronese Pizza @ $25.50 AUD

Ciao Italia was opened since 1999 and started off as a Take Away restaurant. Due to its huge success since the opening day, the owner decided to do dine-in and now they are capable of holding up to 90 people. Highly recommended by my friend as he was raving about how good their pasta was.

I was greeted with a very warm welcome from the waiters and they offered me to take a photo of the Nutella Pyramid.
Cozze Pescatora @ $29.50 AUD
Mussels cooked in Special Tomato Sauce. Sauce had a savoury taste with a hint of sweetness to it. There was definitely garlic and herbs in the sauce which greatly enhanced the flavour but the taste was still lacking.
Calamari Allagriglia @ $34.50 AUD
Calamari lightly grilled in 'Ciao Italia' Special Lemon sauce served with Tomato Salad. Calamari had a light sour and sweet savoury taste which came from the sauce. It was slightly overcooked as it was not as springy as it could be. As for the salad, my friend specifically ordered the Tomato Salad instead of the Continental Salad which was a wise choice. The tomatoes were juicy and appetizing sprinkled in Olive Oil and Herbs.
Calzone @ $27.50 AUD
Enclosed Pizza with whole peeled Tomato sauce, Mozzarella cheese, Grilled Capsicum, Chicken pieces, Fresh Mushrooms and Sun-dried Tomatoes. Pastry was firm and had a light crisp to it. Fillings were tasty with a savoury and hint of sourness taste to it. A heavy and filling dish. Great to share with a crowd as it was huge.
Veronese Pizza @ $25.50 AUD
Wood Fired Pizza with whole Peeled Tomato sauce, Mozzarella Cheese, Roast Capsicum, Mushrooms, Spinach, Ricotta mix,Olives and Prawns as toppings. The crust was thin and had a floppy texture to it. Not the usual pizza which has a crispy crust. The cheese given was just nice and the ingredients were fresh. Overall, the pizza was decent but nothing to rave about.
Vodka Penne @ $24.50 AUD
Creamy Tomato based sauce with Spring Onions, Bacon and Vodka. Sauce was rich and fragrant with a delicious savoury taste to it. Every bite of the Penne was tasty and there was a burst of flavour. The sauce was very well balanced as it was not overly creamy or diluted. This dish was really special as the Vodka gave an extra kick to the sauce and kept us wanting for more. A MUST MUST try dish!!! Portion was big, enough to share for two average eaters.
Carbonara Spaghetti @ $24.50 AUD
Bacon, Egg and Cream Cheese sauce. I've tried many Carbonara Spaghetti before. I must say this is one of the best ones I've tried so far. The sauce was very rich and fragrant with a very well balanced thickness. A creamy savoury dish which will definitely make you as for more. Another MUST try dish!!
Ciao Italia Fettuccine @ $27.50 AUD
Combination of marinated tender Chicken Strips, Sundried Tomatoes, Spring Onions and Fresh Diced Tomatoes in a Creamy White sauce. Sauce was superb!! Was very rich and fragrant with a buttery savoury taste. The sauce thickness was also just nice. As I have tried many dishes which uses their restaurant name as their special dish, this is one of those which actually tasted good. A definitely MUST try dish!!
Tiramisu @ $8.50 AUD
Apparently, Ciao Italia serves the BEST Tiramisu in Perth, so we gave it a try. Tiramisu was topped with Cocoa powder and Cream. The portion was HUGE. Texture was very smooth, creamy and moist. I would say the texture was really good but taste-wise was lacking. More focus was placed on perfecting the texture. The Tiramisu had a balanced taste where the sweetness was just nice; not too bitter and there wasn't much taste of alcohol. Tiramisu was good but I would prefer it with a little bit more alcohol and coffee taste as it really brings out the flavour of the Tiramisu.
Chocolate Profiteroles @ $8.50 AUD
Profiteroles coated in Chocholate and topped with Cocoa Powder and Cream. Profiteroles has lost its prime time as the texture was a bit off. Normally, Profiteroles have a light crisp on the outside with a firm puffy texture on the inside. This was not so crispy nor puffy due to prolong exposure. Taste-wise was balanced as it was not overly sweet.
Strawberry Profiteroles @ $8.50 AUD
Profiteroles coated in Strawberry and Syrup topped with Cream. Profiteroles were the same as the chocolate one. This one was too sweet for me though.

Verdict (Highest-10)
Food: 8.5 (Really really good Pasta. Much better than the ones I've tried at Melbourne. The other dishes were average.)
Service: 8 (Friendly and warm waiters. Food came out quick as well.)
Ambiance: 7 (Neat and inviting atmosphere.)
Overall: 8 (A must go if you are looking for Italian food in Perth. Go before 6pm as there will be a long queue.)
