Special Roti Canai @ Al-Amnah ★★ $

Special Roti Canai @ RM 2.50

Roti Canai is a type of Indian-influenced flatbread found in Malaysia and has always been a local favourite. In this particular restaurant known as Al-Amnah, they came up with a variance to it and instinctively named it Roti Canai Special. Al-Amnah which is just opposite Restoran Noor shares the same shop and I came to know of this place by my uncle who loves to try new foods.

Mee Goreng @ RM 3.50

The term Goreng means fried, so Mee Goreng is actually fried noodles cooked in Malaysian style. Egg Noodles fried with chili padi, egg, vegetable, onion and garlic sprinkled with fried onions. Lime is given to give an extra kick to the dish. This dish had a spicy, peppery and savoury taste to it. Noodles were moderately thick with a starchy and slight chewy consistency. Dish was rather average. Had better ones elsewhere.
Special Roti Canai @ RM 2.50
Special Roti Canai is basically slices of Roti Canai with two half-boiled eggs and sambal topped with dhal. The upside to this dish was the eggs were runny and the mix of egg yolk with the dhal gave a fragrant and new flavour to it. The downside was the Roti was soggy, sambal was a bit too sweet and dhal was rather bland. It would have been better if fresh Roti were used. Definitely something new and would love to try again if adjustments are made.
Nasi Goreng @ RM 3.50
Nasi Goreng is fried rice cooked in Malaysian style. Similar spices and ingredients as Mee Goreng but rice is used instead. Rice was too moist. Would prefer pre-cooked rice as it seals the flavour within and has better texture where the rice doesn't clump.
Maggi Goreng @ RM 3.50
Fried instant noodles with the same spices and ingredients as the Mee Goreng. Instant Noodles had a springy texture. Taste was similar as the Mee Goreng which was rather average.

Verdict (Highest-10)
Food: 4 (Food was rather average. Definitely had better ones. Roti Canai Special was definitely something new and probably can't be found elsewhere.)
Service: 4 (Friendly service and food came quick)
Ambiance: 3 (Had doubts with cleanliness but I have seen worst.)
Overall: 4.5 (Would come here to just try out the Roti Canai Special.)

Price: RM 3.50 - 7 per main
