By Korea ★★★ $$

Chicken Dol Sot Bibim Bob @ $13 AUD

By Korea is located just opposite Melbourne Central. This place is normally packed with Koreans which is a good sign. Before I go on, would like to thank those who enjoyed viewing my food blog as it has hit 1111 views in 1 and half week.

Nothing fancy about the decoration but it provides a comfortable atmosphere. Staffs are friendly. Great place for lunch as well as you get a free drink for a meal. This applies only on weekdays and only lunch time.
Chicken Dol Sot Bibim Bob @ $13 AUD
A mix of Chicken, Carrot, Spinach, Mushroom, Bean Sprout and Cucumber on Rice. What is great is that its cooked in a Stone Bowl which gives a different feel to it and keeps it hot. Comes with a Soup and Chili Bean Paste (You can add as much as you want, up to your liking). Tasted great with the right amount of Chili Paste and a healthy dish as well. However, if you are looking for something meaty, this might not be the dish.
Chap Che @ $12 AUD
Sweet Potato Noodles with a choice of Chicken/Beef. A delicious dish with a sweet touch to it. Can be a bit inconsistent.
Tuckboky @ $12 AUD
Stir Fried Rice Cake, Fish Cake and Vegetables with Chili Sauce. Liked the Rice Cake with a slight chewy consistency. Didn't like the sauce as it was rather too sweet and lacked in taste. Was better last time I've tried it.
Yuk Gae Jang @ $15 AUD
Hot soup boiled with Beef Bone and Meat, Red Pepper powder and mixed vegetables. My friend who couldn't eat spicy food decided to try this. He paid the price. The waitress had to refill the water bottle for a couple of times. Back to how it tasted. Soup wasn't great as the beef broth was overly strong which made it nothing special and tasted just like a beef broth. Their other stews were better.
Sweet Chili / Soy Fried Chicken @ $28 AUD
Deep Fried Chicken with a choice of Sweet Chili, Soy or Original and with pickled radish on the side (Korean way of eating it). The crust was fairly thin and crispy even with the skin removed. Unlike certain Chinese food where the crust were overly thick. As for the taste, the chicken seasoned with Sweet Chili was lacking in taste. It was better last time. The soy based was slightly salty but it had a unique taste to it which some might like.

Verdict
Food: 7.5 ( Authentic Korean food unlike certain Korean restaurants where their food were Westernized or Chinese-fied)
Service: 7 (Staffs are friendly and always smiling)
Ambiance: 7
Overall: 7.5 ( For an authentic Korean food would say above average at affordable prices)

Price: $10-28 AUD per main
