Pho Chu The ★★★★ $

Beef Ball Noodles with Rare Beef on the side

My friend has been bragging about this place serving good Vietnam Noodles so it got me curious and I decided to give it a try.

The crowd was big but as we sat longer, people were starting to que outside. Up to my surprise it was raining at that time but customers kept coming in.
The owner was kind enough to lit the lights for me to take a good picture of the long-neck turtle. Plus one point for service. Service was quick and smooth. There was not much wait as the food came pretty quick.
Beef Ball Noodles with Rare Beef on the side
Definitely the best Vietnam Noodles I've tried in Melbourne. The restaurant may not look flashy but they truly preserve the authentic taste of Vietnam Noodles. The magic comes from the hot broth itself where it is deep in flavor. The rice noodles were smooth and silky. The beef balls were really springy as well. The bean sprouts, mints and lemon were also fresh which adds the extra oomph to the whole dish. As for the Rare beef, it is soaked into the broth whenever you want to eat. This is worth mentioning as it retains the texture of the beef and is made sure not to overcook the beef.
Chicken Strips Noodles
Another great dish. The broth was much clearer compared to the beef broth but it still tasted great.
Soda Drink with Beaten Egg
Yes, EGG. The idea of an egg in a drink may cross your mind as gross for some people but I assure you this is a tasty drink. I believe condensed milk was added into it as it really brings out the flavor of the drink.
Penny Worth
Refreshing but a little too sweet for me. If you are wondering how it tasted like, it is similar to Wheatgrass.

  1. You might want to update this post. The old owners of Pho Chu The Richmond now run I Love Pho 264 a couple of doors down. Pho Chu The in Footscray (different owner) requested the name back for the Richmond store and are now running off the success of the previous owners (now I Love Pho 264).
