Red Spoon Korea ★★ $$

Ddeok-kkotchi @ $4 AUD

Red Spoon Korea is a small Korean cafe located just at Prahran which is run by a team of brother and sister. What is different about this restaurant is that it offers Korean food with a home cooking style touch to it. Not the usual Korean Food that you get around city.

Mulmandu @ $4 AUD

Boiled Chicken-Ginger dumplings sprinkled with spring onions. This dumpling is very similar to a Sui Gow. The skin was thin and silky smooth. Filling was not too bad but the ginger taste was not apparent. Eat it while its hot as it doesn't taste that good when its cold.
Ddeok-kkotchi @ $4 AUD
Deep fried rice cake with Gochujang (Red Pepper paste) sauce sprinkled with sesame seeds. Crispy on the outer layer with a soft chewy consistency on the inside. Sauce was spicy with a sweet savoury touch to it.
Gyoza @ $4 AUD
Deep fried Pork Dumplings. The skin was crispy and dense. Fillings were not bad as well. What was great that this dish was not oily.
Grilled Chicken Salad @ $4.50 AUD
Fresh vegetable with grilled chicken sprinkled with sesame dressing. Vegetables were fresh and crunchy. The meat was tender. There was very little dressing so the taste is not that apparent. Dressing is oil based with a mix of sweetness and sourness taste to it.
Fried Chicken Wings @ $9 (10 pieces)
Deep fried Chicken Wings marinated with homemade sauce. Skin was really crispy. Meat was tender and juicy with a piquant spice to it.
Ddeockgalbi @ $10 AUD
Korean style minced beef steak, salad and rice with BBQ-liked sauce. Beef steak was soft but rather dry. Tasted rather odd. It didn't go well with the rice. Salad was fresh and crunchy but dressing was not appetizing.
Chicken Bulgogi @ $10.50 AUD
Sizzling BBQ Chicken marinated in spicy sauce with vegetables. Chicken was tender but the sauce was not as tasty as it could be and lacked in fragrance. Sauce was not that spicy as they claimed to be.
Vegetable Ramyeon @ $8.50 AUD
Thin light noodles served in hot spicy soup. This dish was rather ordinary. Something you could make out from instant noodles.
Sundubu Jjigae @ $10 AUD
A spicy stew made with soft tofu and shellfish with raw egg added. Stew tasted different from the usual stew. Not that tasty and appetizing.

Verdict
Food: 4 (Food was cheap but rather ordinary. Suitable as a home-cooked food but probably not so for a restaurant.)
Service: 8 (Service was really good. The staff was really friendly.)
Ambiance: 8 (Cozy and quiet restaurant. Great place to enjoy a quiet meal and also a drink.)
Overall: 5 (There were some decent dishes but overall we didn't really enjoy our meal.)

Price: Under $11 AUD per main
