Kimchi Hut ★★ $$$

Octopus Ball (Takoyaki) @ $6.5 AUD

At the end of our trip, my friends and I decided to drive to Glen Waverly to try out something new. We stopped at Kimchi Hut as our first choice was closed for winter. There are not many Korean restaurants in Glen Waverly, Kimchi Hut is one of the popular ones here.

Simple and neat decor. TV was rather pointless as most the time you could only hear the crowd's voice.

Octopus Ball (Takoyaki) @ $6.5 AUD

Fried ball-shaped Japanese Pancake filled with diced Baby Octopus served with Sesame Dressing. Takoyaki was decent with a moist texture and chewy Octopus filling. Sauce was not overwhelming and was given with the right amount.

Korean Side Dishes

Korean dishes here were rather average. Kimchi was very plain and not appetizing.

Seafood Beancurd Clay-Pot Soup @ $15.5 AUD

Seafood Beancurd Soup with Veggies and Egg. Soup was rather average and there were too much eggs added which overwhelmed the taste of the soup.

Sizzling BBQ Pork @ $14.9 AUD

Sizzling BBQ Pork marinated with Spicy Sauce. Average dish as the Pork lacked of fragrance and tasted rather bland.

Spicy Noodle Salad with Top Shell @ $28 AUD

Top Shell (Sea Snail) and Veggies with Spicy Sauce Dressing served with Cold Vermicelli on the side. Abundant amount of veggies but the choice of veggies chosen was not suitable for this dish. The veggies were raw so had a hard time trying to chew it. Didn't really go well with the noodle due to the veggies as it didn't provide the soothing mouthfeel that you should get. Darac Grill & Bar serves a similar dish but is much better.

Sweet Chili Chicken Ribs @ $22 AUD

Deep Fried Chicken Ribs with Mild Sweet Chili Sauce. Batter was average with a crispy texture to it. The sauce was overly sticky and not evenly distributed. Wouldn't recommend this dish.

Verdict (Highest-10)

Food: 4 (To be honest, the food was average. The only decent food was the Takoyaki.)

Service: 7 (Friendly service)

Ambiance: 6 (Simple and Neat decor. Crowded)

Overall: 4 (Overrated as Urbanspoon gave it a 89% rating)

Price: $8.50-18 AUD per main
