Classic Curry Company ★★★ $$

Naan Bread

Classic Curry Company has made its name when it comes to Indian Food. If you are looking for cheap and decent Indian Food in Melbourne, this might just be the place.

Not much focus is placed on the decor. All I can say is simple and bright. Tables and Chairs were rather old.
Meat Lovers Thali @ $12 AUD
As there were only two of us. We decided to order the Super Special Meal. Two Meat dishes and one Vegetarian dish including Rice and one Naan. I had Butter Chicken, Fish Masala Curry and Dhal. Butter Chicken was tasty. Tandoori pieces cooked in a creamy Tomato based sauce. The Chicken was well marinated which gave a pleasingly sweet taste to it. Not the best but pretty good for what you are paying for. Fish Masala Curry was too salty. Dhal which had a similar taste to Mung Beans was not so refined and lacked in fragrance.
Meat Lovers Thali @ $12 AUD
Butter Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo and Dhal. Lamb Vindaloo, spicy Curry cooked with Capsicum and Onions. Lamb Vindaloo was spicy and was slightly too salty.
Butter Naan Bread @ $1 AUD
Indian plain flour bread baked in charcoal Tandoori oven and spread with butter. Naan was light and there was a slight crisp to it. Cheapest Naan that I've tried so far in Melbourne.
Mango Lassi @ $3 AUD
Mango Lassi came in a bottle. Lassi was slightly too sour for me and there was mild Mango flavor to it.

Verdict
Food: 7.5 ( Cheap and decent curry. The rest of the curries were rather average. The best would be the Butter Chicken.)
Service: 5 ( Fast and efficient.)
Ambiance: 4 (Seats were rather old. Nothing fancy.)
Overall: 7 (Would probably come just for the Butter Chicken. Will try other curries as well to see if there is any surprises.)

Price: $10-12 AUD per main
